Skeletal Lamping
OF MONTREAL – SKELETAL LAMPING
It seems most music critics are in agreement about their dislike of the new Of Montreal album – it’s too frenetic, too random, too densely layered. The songs don’t make any sense, switching in the middle to a completely different idea. Even the lyrics are “schizophrenic,” written from the point of view of Kevin Barnes’ alterego, Georgie Fruit. The funny thing is, those are all the reasons why I like the album so much, and consider it equal to or better than the critically-exalted “Hissing Fauna.”
