Gutter Tactics

DALEK – GUTTER TACTICS
Newark, NJ’s Dalek creates some of the sludgiest, bleakest soundscapes I’ve ever heard. A perfect follow-up to 2007’s “Abandoned Language,” “Gutter Tactics” makes The Bug sound like children’s music.

Check out my favorite track, "Armed With Krylon," here:

Rawwar!!

GANG GANG DANCE – RAWWAR EP
Gang Gang Dance draw on a variety of influences, ranging from ambient electronica to psychedelic rock to world music. Electronic music is a strong influence, though Gang Gang Dance’s music is not necessarily dance-oriented or club-oriented - their audience is more of an avant rock audience, and they are as well known for their live shows as for their studio recordings.

Merriweather Post Pavilion

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE – MERRIWEATHER POST PAVILION
I guess the ninth time’s the charm for this group of Baltimore musicians – they’ve finally created a good, listenable album! Also, the cover makes my eyes feel funny…

Slumdog Millionaire

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE OST
Though I haven’t yet had the opportunity to see Danny Boyle’s latest film, “Slumdog Millionaire,” I am already a fan of the soundtrack, composed by A R Rahman and featuring M.I.A.
Rahman says in the liner notes, “The soundtrack is a result of the mutual admiration [Danny Boyle and I] have for each other and was a blast to work on. Welcome to India ‘Danny Boyle Style.’”

Check out the track "O... Saya," featuring M.I.A., here:
